Our Story

Medical devices have settled into a rhythm of disposability and reactive care that costs billions, generates mountains of waste, and treats conditions long after they could have been prevented.

BEDEV was founded in 2020 in Covilhã, Portugal, by a team frustrated with the status quo. The first questions weren’t “what’s the market opportunity.” They were “which conditions affect the most people, get the least engineering attention, and reward the unglamorous work of regulated device development?”

The answers led us to reusable instruments and preventive digital tools. Both require longer development timelines than disposable equivalents. Both face stiffer regulatory paths. We accepted those challenges.

Six years later, our first device is about to enter clinical trial testing, and we’ve been recognized by international MedTech programs from Lisbon to Hong Kong.
